Art that Re-enchants the World

Feasts, fires, gatherings, and gift giving help us get through the last days of autumn and the first days of winter.

The winter solstice was created by a random astronomical event that caused a tilt in Earth’s axis. This tilt created the long nights that precede the winter solstice, and the return of light that follows it. The winter solstice has taught us to trust that at the very darkest moment, on the longest night, the light will start to return.

Trust, faith, light: This is the meaning—and magic—of the winter solstice.

Here is a collection of art and gifts inspired by this deeply storied and magical time of year.
