Belinda Recio is a recipient of the Humane Society’s Award for Innovation in the Study of Animals and Society. She has authored numerous books—including Your Inner Zoo: A Guide to the Meaning of Animals and the Insights They Offer Us (Skyhorse 2022), When Animals Rescue: Amazing True Stories about Heroic and Helpful Creatures (Skyhorse 2020), and Inside Animal Hearts and Minds: Bears That Count, Goats That Surf, and Other True Stories of Animal Intelligence and Emotion (Skyhorse 2017).

Prior to authoring books, Belinda developed award‑winning science curricula for educational television, museums, and publishers.

In addition to writing, Belinda runs True North Gallery in Massachusetts, where she exhibits art that connects people with animals and nature.
